| Comments I was working final approach on 9/15/81. AG406 developed a hydraulic failure, dropped the 'tanker' tanks and was vectored to a short final from overhead tanker position. The final approach was perfect; can't recall the wire number. 20 seconds looking up the plat camera, the deck apes were trying to tie the aircraft down. The high seas near the artic rolled the deck pretty bad. We at CATCC could not beleive it. There had been plenty of time on that recovery to have been able to tow AG406 on to the elevator. Raising the hook bled out all remaining hydraulics on the A7. May LTJG Nicely rest in peace with our Lord Christ Jesus. | |
