| Comments: I wonder how many of VA12 members have passed away, we are all about the same age, I never saw another person I knew and only saw a few I remembered in these cruise books, I guess we all grow apart, its so funny how little safety there was while we were on IKE, it was so easy to die every day on the flight deck, look at the terrorism today we were in the same spot in 78, it is still there like a disease, we should have nuked them back then, silver bullet. | |

We were in the North Atlantic during recovery
when AC 407 went over the side, Hydraulics busted, nasty sea state and
every time we rolled to starboard our jet rolled closer to the safety
nets, LT had unbuckled from the seat, once the nose wheel went over into
the safety nets, he looked at us, threw both hands up and went into the
ocean, the only thing that stayed afloat was the top of the tail "407 I went on to complete 30 years of active duty:
VA-12, VP-49, VP-30, CPW-5, VA-34, CVN-69, CVN-73, CVN-65, CVN-77,LHD-3,
Diego Garcia. Selected as a CPO
in 1992, and got selected as an LDO in 1996. Retired as the 1st OHO assigned on board CVN-77 George H. W. Bush
